wootyou for the XBOX 360 is almost here…

We have been working on a little something called wootyou since summer of last year. We got the idea over a year ago when, as casual gamers, we discovered that those rare nights when all our friends also were online were the funniest.

Like m0st things in life, online gaming also shines when you do it with your friends. So we asked ourselves, how could we make this happen more often? First we thought of using an already existing social network like Facebook. However, that idea died pretty soon for many reasons.  A game buddy may not be a Facebook friend, other friends not playing console games really don’t want to know about your gaming habits, and how do you handle time-zones when playing with friends overseas?

So, it was clear. We needed to create a service that satisfied our needs. We needed to scratch our own itch.

What we came up with was a simple and elegant way to let your friends and others know that you want to play, say, GEARS OF WAR 2 on Sunday.

It is also possible to show off your game collection on wootyou =)

In addition, we wanted to create a service that made it easy to find new game friends and in general make your XBOX 360 time online more fun. We think we have succeeded, and we’ll be ready to launch soon.

Right now we need help getting the last bugs out of the system, so if you play games online and have a XBOX 360 be sure to sign up for the BETA here:

Review of REWORK – a book by the creators of BASECAMP
It is hard to not mention Jason Fried and his company 37 Signals when you talk about .next.mola., at least internally, that is. The reasons for this were two products from the company:  their project management software, BASECAMP, and their first book, GETTING REAL.
